Maimonides Chavurah

We are delighted to introduce the Maimonides Chavurah, a vibrant, welcoming learning community at Congregation Kol Ami, where physicians, nurses, therapists/psychologists and chaplains come together to explore the deeper meaning and purpose of their work through shared learning and reflection.

Together, we explore where science, medicine, ethics, spirituality, and Jewish wisdom meet. Using real clinical and pastoral cases alongside Jewish texts and tradition, we engage in thoughtful discussion that enriches both our professional practice and our personal lives.

The Chavurah is a supportive space for reflection, open-hearted conversation, and professional growth. Participants come from all Jewish backgrounds and levels of learning, and every voice and perspective is valued as we deepen our understanding together.

Open to all Kol Ami physicians, chaplains, nurses, therapists, and psychologists.

For more information or to join the group, please contact Adam Skrzynski, MD, MPH.

Maimonides Chavurah at Congregation Kol Ami, co-sponsored by Jewish Sacred Aging, is unique among synagogue programs in our area. This chavurah is a place of learning, sharing, intellectual discussion, and spirituality as it relates to Judaism and medicine.

Through case-based learning and Jewish text study, we provide learning and depth into the Jewish spiritual and ethical intersections with medical science and practice, of which there are many.

We invite everyone to bring their individual and unique perspectives to these meetings and conversations, along with full participation and involvement, and the hope that you can bring examples to discuss from your own personal and professional life.
