SUMMARY:First Thursdays: A Holocaust Story of Survival & Triumph
DESCRIPTION:First Thursdays: An Evening of Remembrance: A Holocaust Story of Survival and Triumph\nPresented by Ed Skobac\nThursday, April 3 at 7:30 pm (Hybrid)\nIn observance of Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Memorial Day), Ed Skobac, Steve Janove and David Janove will offer a presentation about Ed’s father, William, who survived the Holocaust alone in Poland, and then, taking on the identity of a gentile, lived on a farm, and later survived an arrest by the Red Army who thought William was a German spy.\nThe presentation will include a video interview of William, who tells stories about the randomness and miracle of his survival, describing life in the Ghetto and his experience later in the war when he was arrested by Russian troops who believed William was a spy for the Germans. The presentation will also include a description of the Treblinka concentration camp, where William’s family perished, followed by a video of William’s visit to Treblinka 50 years after the war.\nThis deeply moving story of William Skobac’s survival will demonstrate the triumph of a young man who showed extraordinary resilience in the face of tragedy.\nNo cost for congregants; $15/person for non-members.\nRegistration required. Everyone is welcome.\n
