SUMMARY:First Thursdays: Exploring a Celebrated Short Story
DESCRIPTION:Please note: We have reached in-person planning capacity. If  you have not yet registered, Zoom attendance is still available. We apologize for any inconvenience.\n \nFirst Thursday: Exploring a Celebrated Short Story by a Well-known Jewish Writer\nPresented by Judy Nadell\nThursday, May 7, 7:30 pm (Hybrid)\nFormer textbook author, educational publisher, and Communications professor at Rowan University, congregant Judy Nadell returns to lead us in a discussion of a short story written by a noted Jewish American author.\nThough only 400 words in length, the story illuminates a variety of universal human themes: the persistence of memory, tensions in family life, the rewards and challenges of the immigrant experience—and much more!\nRather than reading the selection in advance, we will have the pleasure of discovering the story together when we meet. For those attending in person, the selection will be distributed at the start of the session; for those attending virtually, the selection will be screen shared. Either way, this compelling piece is bound to spark a lively exchange of ideas and interpretations.\nThis program is open to congregants at no charge and $15 per person/screen for non-members.\nRegistration is required by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5.\n \n\nFirst Thursday programs bring you guest speakers, including congregants and rabbis from around the country, to share their expertise on topics of interest. We will also include several discussions of films with Jewish themes.\nSponsored by our Adult Education Committee.\n
